Lebanon Hanover - Tomb For Two (2013)

I have to say, the first time I heard this duo I was instantly blown away. Haunting female vocals over drum machine, minimal synth backgrounds, modern coldwave at its very finest. This band captures what French coldwave was yet reinterprets it into something new and exciting. They're a German duo, married couple, and I read an interview with them saying they listen to nothing but Malaria! and Neue Deutsche Welle. Out of all of the current bands doing this sound, I dare say they are my favorite. 

(UPDATE: Hotfile has been shut down, which means I've lost all of my old uploaded files. I will probably just move on to another uploader and not attempt a time consuming re-upload)

ADULT. - Anxiety Always (2003)


Fantastic electronic duo from Detroit. This is my favorite album of theirs so far. My favorite tracks are "Kick In the Shin" and "Blank-Eyed, Nose Bleed". They definitely have a weird punk edge to their music that is highly enticing.

In addition to Daniel Dennett's marvelous book Darwin's Dangerous Idea, I have been delving deeper into the sand of the Dune series. I'm starting Dune Messiah and for some reason, whenever I'm reading a fight scene, I hear this record in my head.

Divine - The Story So Far (1984)

 

Having loved Divine's John Water's movies since basically forever, I leaped with emotional joy when I discovered that Divine put out a series of disco records. Apparently its somewhat hard to find LP and I'm sure it would fetch a ridiculous price at record stores. His deep raspy vocals also add a novel quality to the tracks. My favorite songs are "I'm So Beautiful" and "Love Reaction". All hail the Queen of Drag.
